Annotation

Collection composed of 12 sonatas for solo violin and basso continuo. Sonatas II and VI offer an alternative with the mention "which may be played with the flute" at the beginning of the score, like some of the sonatas of opus 1 and 2. However, Leclair has not indicated this alternative on the collection title.

Sonata VIII and XII have been arranged by Leclair himself for 2 violin and basso continuo and published in his "Ouvertures et sonates en trio, op. 13" (1753, respectively sonata I and III).

Several prints of this collection have been made between 1748 and 1753, without any changes to the musical scores, only minor changes to ancillary sheets (e.g. update of catalogue of works).
