This is the official promotional text:

Two years after the debut album Should I Run - released on his own Beyond Belief record
label – the Czech musical talent Kubatko is enriching the Quazi Delict Records catalogue with his
second album called Vzduchoplavec.
Jakub Holovský (24) is an extraordinarily prolific artist – he has released over 50
compositions since 2006 and has worked with several local labels (e.g., Elemental, Vodkaredbull,
Nightphunk, Beyond Belief) as well as with labels spread, literally, all over the world (USA,
Germany, Australia, Poland, Great Britain). His portfolio includes hits for labels such as Santorin,
Defunked, Basswerk and Loco, and he has collaborated with artists like Stunna, Kaleb, Jett, Lm1,
Jebar and TRG – that is a business card you would not use for rolling smokes.
In order to see the contours of Kubatko more clearly one must realize not only the
remarkable lightness with which he approaches music making and his consistently impressive
musical skills, but also his extremely wide range of genres. The question arises - what actually
forms the link defining his style across all ranges of tempo and rhythmic formulas? So far we have
encountered his signature on tracks reflecting drum´n´bass, house, break-beat and even
down-tempo and a couple of common and omnipresent denominators always dominate: a strong
emotional charge, elaborate harmonies and a melancholy atmosphere. A brief excursion into
Jakub’s musical world hints at the intuitiveness of his approach: „I choose tempo usually by
chance, probably based on my best guess as to how the composition will evolve. Recently I have
been progressing in a more experimental way and I have been trying to bring in more of the unknown. No matter how much I try to stretch, I am always very similar in my harmonies, which
is probably because the same kind of moods simply catch my ear and, frankly speaking, I will
most likely never get rid of that. Nevertheless, I try to change and differ within the limits of my
taste. But I surely don’t have a plan of how I will construct this or that track. Sometimes it goes
from top to bottom, left to right, at other times vice versa.“
The new album Vzduchoplavec confirms a digression from drum’n’bass which used to be
the centre of gravity of Kubatko’s work. Calmer tempos and deep house sounds are taking the
foreground more and more. Vzduchoplavec is an exceptional aural experience for the invited
guest. In two cases (Hvezda, Nuly a Jednicky) the vocals are taken care of by Sampon from the
indie pop band Sporto, one track (Born Of Water) is sung by Zeuritia, and Volenet from the Prince
Of Tennis project contributes to one track (Parent’s High) not only with his vocals but also with
some guitar. „I really appreciate the collaboration with vocalists, it was a fairly new experience for
me. All of them are Czechs so the album is 100 % local talent. You can tag most of the tracks as
easy-listening electronic music, although I still perceive it as very rhythmic, with striking elements.
There are three tracks that are more dance music but I was still thinking of listeners in an
armchair, so I hope they will have fun with a cup of tea in their hands too,“ says Jakub, who –
besides DJing – also perfects a live form of his project. Last but not least, Matous Godik aka
ZKA4T deserves to be mentioned because he mixed and mastered the album flawlessly.
And why Vzduchoplavec? It is all due to a gift from Jakub’s friend, who
formulated the original graphic idea and oversaw creation of the album cover, which was finalized
by DJ Rudeboy. It must be noted that Kubatko could not have chosen a better suited title for his
second album – the airy element is ubiquitous. Vzduchoplavec is an attractive aviatic invitation.
The rope is being untied, the bags with sand are being dropped. Are you on board?
