This question lies at the center of Jamie Paige's fourth album, Constant Companions. First sung in the electrifying, dizzyingly-paced opener Dyad, these lyrics and their associated melody echo throughout the rest of the tracklist, becoming a lodestar for all the disparate lonely hearts being portrayed. Whether a frenetic longing for notoriety on ROT FOR CLOUT, a desperate longing for self-fulfillment on Cadmium Colors, or a cautious longing for the carefree on Liaison - each song finds its own unique tension between two, and ultimately settles on its own answer to that ever-present question.

However, after the album's release in October 2024 - amidst the sudden viral success of Machine Love, and calls for Jamie Paige to "put that shit on vinyl" - some questions still remained unanswered.

Now, Very Ok Vinyl is partnering with Jamie Paige to bring Constant Companions (Deluxe Edition) to Vinyl and CD. The album is available as either a 2 LP multi-color splatter or a single CD, and both editions come with gorgeous new artwork and five bonus tracks, rounding out the album's sweeter palate with a touch of bitter. In addition, one song unwillingly cut from the original release due to circumstance - Clouddrop - has been restored to its original place among the main tracks, completing the dramatic arc of this album with a seven minute progressive pop opus.

On the final bonus track Dance Delightful, the indulgently artificial voice of Adachi Rei sings of radical, total self-acceptance and actualization, so overcome with emotion and a sense of self that even a "convoluted amalgamate" and "skewed machine" such as her can't help but dance in joy and delight. Maybe this reveals the "true" answer to Paige's question, in some sense - We all just want to know that we're real, and that we're loved. So, if you know what you want to hear, put on Constant Companions, and dance delightful the whole damn night.
