Proposing a page for deletion

If you want to propose something for deletion and initiate the discussion, you should:

  1. Add the {{Delete|reason=…}} template to the top of the page you're proposing to delete. Include a clear and succinct rationale for the deletion in the form of a complete sentence as the value of the |reason= parameter.
     Note: This will show up on others' watch lists that are most likely to have a valid argument against deletion, so don't mark the change as minor.
  2. Copy the sample wikitext in the box below to your clipboard and paste it at the bottom of the Candidate for Deletion/Current noticeboard to create a new section for discussion of your proposal, then edit it to align with the particulars of the Delete template from Step 1. Specifically, replace page_name with the exact name of the page you added the Delete template to, and at least duplicate the value of the |reason= parameter below the new heading, or better still, expound on it so others may better understand your thinking.
    • The — ~~~~ part that follows at the end will be automatically converted by the wiki parser into a very spiffy signature with links to your user and talk pages (in case someone needs to reach out to you directly about the proposal), plus a date stamp so that the timeframes involved can be tracked.

== [[page_name]] == Your argument for deletion. — ~~~~

Discussing and voting

To discuss or vote on things being proposed for deletion, simply add your thoughts using the normal wiki syntax for an entry in an unordered list (* … at the start of a new line) directly below the proposer's rationale in favor of the deletion. If you're replying to a specific comment that's already part of the discussion, insert your list entry on the next line directly beneath it and add one level of imbrication (use one more asterisk at the start of your comment than is present in front of the comment you're responding to). Most of all, don't forget to sign your comments with ~~~~ or the more stylish — ~~~~.

Outcome

After a period of time (still to be decided), a wiki administrator or someone they designate will evaluate what's been said and use it to inform their decision on whether to keep or delete the page. The proposal and ensuing discussion should then be moved to the archive on Candidate for Deletion/Archive.
